As a Regional Maintenance Specialist being part of our O&M Reliability Group, you’ll join a collaborative team of regional support individuals dedicated to the success of our project’s staff and project’s delivery ensuring that our municipal clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. You’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks regarding equipment reliability within the predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance of water/wastewater treatment plants and related facilities equipment. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient reliability focused maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities.

This is a remote position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, mechanical equipment, and electrical equipment.

  • Assists in establishing predictive maintenance programs and knowledge how to perform these tasks such as but not limited to motor current signature testing, vibration, ultrasound, IR thermography, precision lubrication, oil analysis, and precision alignment.

  • Assists in planning, scheduling the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of specialized mechanical and electrical equipment including out of scope work.

  • Reads, interprets, and works from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and mechanical illustrations.

  • Lubricates equipment and check for malfunctions.

  • Replace mechanical seals/packing in pumps or valves.

  • Replace bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment.

  • Performs precision shaft alignment.

  • Tune engines, set valve clearance, clean, and adjust regulators.

  • Examine equipment failures to identify cause and to prevent recurrences, root cause analysis.

  • Remove and properly decommission equipment and machinery.

  • Install, start-up and properly commission new equipment and machinery.

  • Use gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld.

  • Assist in keeping maintenance records within the CMMS; and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.

  • Must be a self-motivated individual, have strong leadership skills and the ability to work well with others.

  • Travel will be a minimum of 50% of the year

  • Potentially, be able to pass a Non-CDL DOT medical exam, you will need to keep an Electronic Drivers Log (ELD) to maintain DOT compliance (will be provided) depending on vehicle being operated.

  • Provide basic maintenance training to local project staff.

  • Will lead by example in always following safe work practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a maintenance technician in water/wastewater facilities or industrial setting and/or US Military training.

  • 5 years’ experience in performing at least one or more of the following, motor current signature testing, vibration testing, ultrasound testing, precision alignment and oil analysis.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • A valid Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification and/or Level 3 or 4 Industrial Maintenance Technologist Certification or, the ability to obtain within 1 year of date of hire.

  • Must be proficient in various CMMS programs and computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to travel 75% of the time on average.

  • A valid driver’s license with no major infractions.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Current CRL (Certified Reliability Leader) certification.

  • A valid Infrared Thermography certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of date of hire.

  • A valid Certified Vibration Technician (CAT 1) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of date of hire.

  • A valid Ultrasound certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.

  • Trade school education with an emphasis on electrical and mechanical equipment and metal fabrication and/or US military training.

  • Experience with knowledge of the principles, methods, tools, and materials employed in the general operations, maintenance and repair of advanced electrical and mechanical equipment and systems, including combustion engines, vehicles, electric motors, pumps, and related rotating equipment associated with water/wastewater systems and facilities.

The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance, and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
