Inframark Crew Chief in Houston, Texas
JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE
The Crew Chief is responsible for training and overseeing the daily activities of the Utility Technician staff responsible for a wide range of duties include laying pipes, lines, water meters, and other activities.
- Heavy equipment operation experience is required.
Allocates work and provides technical direction, assistance, and training to other personnel.
Organizes schedules and emergency repairs in plants. Responds to call outs and after hour emergencies. Creates and completes work orders.
Ensures that all SOPs are followed and DOT, OSHA and other requirements are met. Makes recommendations for improving SOPs.
Operates vehicles & special equipment including forklift, backhoe, amphibious vehicle, vactor, probing rod, motor vehicle, portable generators, pumps, chain saws, chop saws, sewer cleaning machine, etc.
Ensures all grounds maintenance work is completed.
Installs and performs repairs in water and sewer systems.
Advises purchasing on equipment needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience : High School Diploma or GED and 3-5 years Distribution/Collection System experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications : Valid Driver’s License (Class A CDL required in order to drive combination rig of truck, trailer & backhoe) and maintains an insurable driving record. Level 3 or 4 Distribution/Collection System Operator license or Water/Wastewater License. One Call training and certificate.
Technical : Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet. Ability to work with basic office equipment & phone systems. Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, DOT regulations & Utility SOPs.
