Overview

JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE

The Operations and Field Tech Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the operators and field technicians. Duties include the operational and maintenance planning, scheduling, and controlling of water and wastewater plants and also responsible for the oversight of field tech activities.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Oversees the efficient and effective operation of the Project facilities under his/hers control:

  • Management of all operators (Direct reports)

  • Performance reviews

  • Time management

  • Continuous improvement

  • Site compliance

  • Scheduling

  • Ensure new hire process is completed/all applicable tools and equipment assigned and accounted.

  • Employee training and development

  • Know all applicable permits, verify they are applied correctly

  • Weekly formal communications with account managers about ongoing operations (template to be provided)

  • Site visits

  • Communication with maintenance group on repairs/etc.

  • Management of operations P&L

  • Process control reports and regulatory reports

  • Monthly operations reports

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety programs

  • Continuous improvement mindset

  • Maintenance of all trucks and equipment, including capital budgeting

  • Develops methods to assure that all policies are followed

  • Manage billable time

  • Management of P&L for maintenance department

  • All re-occurring maintenance duties

  • Flushing plans, meter change-out plans

  • Regulatory compliance and reporting related to field tech activities (e.g. flushing)

  • Work with account managers, district engineers, and developers when required on maintenance related projects.

  • Health and safety program

  • Ensure compliance

  • Continuous improvement

  • Maintenance of all trucks and equipment, including capital budgeting

  • Develops methods to assure that all policies are followed

Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent motivational skills

  • Experience in problem solving

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in computer applications

  • Good organizational skills

  • Strong management background

  • Strong understanding of the Accounting

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BA/BS in related field and 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role in the water and wastewater field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver's license required

  • A water and/or wastewater license is preferred
