Overview

JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE

The Accountant 2 is responsible for applying the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare various reports.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded.

  • Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.

  • Compiles financial data to aid other accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss and other financial analysis.

  • Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.

  • Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization’s accounting operation.

  • Completes month end processes such as journal entries and reconciliations directly impacting areas of responsibility

  • Participate in internal and external audits

  • Self-starter with strong attention to details and focus on accuracy.

  • Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Accurate and attentive to detail

  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles

  • Proficient computer (Excel and Word)/ten key skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Accounting. CPA a plus. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Requires 3-5 years of solid finance experience.
